To celebrate National Cinema Day this weekend, many theaters across the US are offering $3 tickets. The National Association of Theater Owners (NATO) has announced that tickets to "every movie, every showtime, and every format" will be just $3 this coming Saturday, September 3. Taxes and fees are extra.
More than 3,000 theaters, including 30,000 screens, will take part in the event across the country. The National Association of Theaters Owners' Cinema Foundation is putting on the event as a "thank you" to fans who turned up at theaters this summer to help reinvigorate the box office.
"After this summer's record-breaking return to cinemas, we wanted to do something to celebrate moviegoing," Cinema Foundation president Jackie Brenneman said. "We're doing it by offering a 'thank you' to the moviegoers that made this summer happen, and by offering an extra enticement for those who haven’t made it back yet."
