The long wait for a new Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer is finally over, as new footage of the multiversal Marvel movie has swung into action. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man finds himself catapulted across the Multiverse and into a nexus inhabited by a team of Spider-People charged with protecting all of reality. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself at odds with his alternate reality wallcrawlers and must redefine what it means to be a hero so that he can save the people he loves the most.
While details on the story--and its 2023 sequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse--have been light so far, there has been plenty of news regarding the massive cast that will be featured in these films. Written by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, Across the Spider-verse will have around 240 characters appearing in it and includes the return of Shameik Moore returns as Miles Morales/Spider-Man, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman, and Jake Johnson as the older Peter Parker/Spider-Man. After making a brief cameo in the first Spider-Verse film, Oscar Isaac is also back as Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099.
For the new web-slingers, The Hate U Give's Issa Rae will play classic Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew, and Japanese actor Takuya Yamashiro will appear as the Spider-Man (or Emissary of Hell if you prefer) from the 1978 Japanese animated Spider-Man show. Daniel Kaluuya will also voice Spider-Punk and Jason Schwartzman will play the Spot, a goofy mid-'80s supervillain who used the various interdimensional portals across his body to commit crimes.
