Author George R.R. Martin has confirmed that some of the upcoming Game of Thrones TV shows in the works are not moving ahead, at least not right now. Posting on his Not A Blog, Martin said some of these "successor shows" have been "shelved," though they aren't necessarily dead forever.
In a post detailing his upcoming projects, Martin said he continues to develop new Game of Thrones shows with HBO. As is always the case with TV development, some shows are "moving faster than others" and some are moving slower, or stopped entirely. "
"None have been greenlit yet, though we are hoping… maybe soon. A couple have been shelved, but I would not agree that they are dead. You can take something off the shelf as easily as you can put it on the shelf," he said.
