AMC's Interview With The Vampire Series Gets Bloody First Trailer

AMC debuted the first trailer of the upcoming Interview with the Vampire series during Comic-Con 2022. Based on Anne Rice's iconic novel of the same name, Interview with the Vampire follows Louis de Pointe du Lac, played by Game of Thrones alum Jacob Anderson, Lestat de Lioncourt played by Australian actor Sam Reid, and Claudia's (Bailey Bass) epic story of love and the trials of being immortal, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy, this time played by Eric Bogosian (Succession).

This is the first television show that will adapt the late author's works after two movies, the first one being the 1994 sensation starring Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and a young Kirsten Dunst. The second is more of a Lestat solo movie that starred then rising star Stewart Townsend and rapper Aliayah, Queen of the Damned.

Obviously, right off the bat, there are several liberties taken with this adaptation. The biggest one is the timeframe. In the novel, it starts in 1791 with Louis being a plantation owner and him going through almost 200 years as an immortal. This show has a more contemporary setting with it starting out in 1910, but still in New Orleans. Louis is more Creole than cajun and takes Lestat's Dark Gift as a way to become more powerful rather than out of desperation.
