A premium subscription for Disney+ might become even costlier later this year for the streaming service. In an earnings call for the company last week, CEO Bob Iger noted a price hike is likely for the ad-free tier in 2023, which would mark the second such increase within a year.
The Motley Fool posted a transcription of the Disney earnings call with Iger. Speaking about Disney+, the CEO said, "The pricing changes we've already implemented have proven successful. And we plan to set a higher price for our ad-free tier later this year to better reflect the value of our content offerings."
Iger previously discussed Hulu shows possibly coming to Disney+, though no specific series were mentioned. However, Disney+ will also remove some of its streaming content, too. Disney CFO Christine McCarthy added that the company wants to focus on high-quality content versus just high quantity.
